 According
to Chinese legends, those linked by invisible red threads would become
lovers and eventually get married. If such threads really exist, then
to Mark and Vivian they must be hills.
From the very beginning, both Mark and Vivian love hills very much.
Mark was born as a country boy in Sai Kung. Having finished school he
moved to city together with his family, but he kept thinking of the
countryside. From 1998, he started realizing his childhood dream – to
explore all the hills and trails in Hong Kong. At the same time, he
got fascinated with mountain marathon racing, which would eventually
drive Vivian and him together…
Vivian has been a keen hiker since studying secondary school. She
joined DEA (The Duke of Edinburgh's Award) and survived even the
toughest journeys – you won't believe that from her girlie look ! After
graduated, she concentrated on working for a few years, but the love of
mountains printed deep in her heart finally drove her back to the
nature.
 Coincidentally,
both Vivian and Mark joined an online hiking forum and started
chatting with each other via internet. In 2002 they met for the first
time in an
activity organized by the forum. You might think they must fall in
love at the first sight. Well, in fact there was no chemical reaction
in their first meeting ! The seed had been sown, but it would take
water, sunlight and the right environment to grow...
Kin Hang Hiking Club must be that
environment. In early 2003, they
joined this famous hiking club, coincidentally, on the same day. They
might have different reasons to join - the boy wanted to practice for
hiking races, while the girl was attracted by the wonderful hiking
routes organized by the club - but the result was the same: since then
they got plenty of chances to meet and talk, turning into friends...
 The
turning point came by the end of that year, when Mark needed
helpers to support for his team running the Trailwalker race.
Unsurprisingly, Vivian kindly gave a helping hand and acted as his
supporter - a role that will last for a life ! Since then they came
closer and closer together, started knowing the true self of each
other, realizing both have so much in common, discovering the beauty in
their hearts and began admiring each other...
By
the next year's Trailwalker race, Vivian worked as supporter of Mark's
team again - the only difference was, this time in the name of Mark's
girlfriend ! The seed grew into a plant. |
